Is the gym for burning Fat?
As soon as I started my weight-loss journey I remember diving down and researching as much as possible in order to find the easiest and fastest way to lose weight and build muscle. Let me tell you in advance. There is and there won’t be a fast way to lose weight and build muscle. The answer is calorie deficit and weight lifting. Be patient and you will see stunning results.
One of the main concerns I had was that I hated cardio and I was bored doing it. So I wanted to use the gym to burn fat but the truth is, the gym is not for burning fat! Yeap, you heard that write. There is a huge misconception that once you start lifting heavy in the gym, fat will come off. Unfortunately, the gym is for building more muscle and cardio is for burning fat. If you have the same beliefs I once had, let me save you a ton of time and give you the answer straightly.
You may now wonder, why go to the gym and lift weights if they don’t contribute to fat loss? Actually, weightlifting supports fat loss in a different way. Building more muscle, which is metabolically active, means you burn more calories. That will in return help you to be in a calorie deficit, thus losing more fat than last time.
Should you avoid cardio? Not at all! A combination of both, cardio and weightlifting is the best way. The main reason is that cardio strengthens your most important muscle, which is, your heart. 150 minutes of moderate-intensity cardio (zone 2) are optimal for heart health. That accompanied with a balanced diet in a calorie deficit will change your health and physique in a matter of months. You will burn fat and build more muscle, thus not needing to do cuts, bulks or anything else. After reaching your desired goal, you maingain and live a long and healthy life.
