What is our Metabolism?

Metabolism is the set of chemical reactions that happen in your body to keep you alive. It's responsible for everything from breaking down food into energy to building new cells. There are two main types of metabolism: anabolism and catabolism.

  • Anabolism is the process of building up new cells and tissues. It requires energy, which is usually derived from food.

  • Catabolism is the process of breaking down food and tissues into energy. It releases energy, which your body can use to power its functions.

Your metabolism is affected by a number of factors, including your age, sex, body composition, and activity level. As you get older, your metabolism slows down. Men typically have a higher metabolism than women. People with more muscle mass have a higher metabolism than people with less muscle mass (muscle tissue is metabolically active). People who are more active have a higher metabolism than people who are less active. There are a few things you can do to boost your metabolism, such as:

  • Eating a healthy diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

  • Exercising regularly.

  • Getting enough sleep.

  • Managing stress.

If you're trying to lose weight, it's important to remember that metabolism is only one factor that affects weight loss. You also need to create a calorie deficit, which means eating fewer calories than you burn.

I have a list with supplements I use when I hit a plateau in order to boost my metabolism and give me that extra push that I need to keep going. If you want that list, write down in the comments the word “List & your instagram handle or email” in order for me to send it to you!
