5 High Satiating Foods
Sometimes the road to the desired weight gets more difficult than usual. I found myself struggling many times with my hunger, mainly because I tested if I could get on a bigger calorie deficit than I usually was, and Grehlin punched me in the face! Ghrelin is the hormone being produced letting you know that you are hungry and trust me you can not get away from it especially when you are on a diet. The converse hormone letting you know you are filled and there is no more need to eat is Leptin. Now, when you eat high-satiating foods is like toying with your hormones! What I mean is you are feeling full but the calories you’ve consumed are very little. What helps the most in feeling more satiating is protein and fibre.
Let’s dive down and see 5 foods that are high satiating and can help you stick to your diet without binging or consuming more calories!
1) Egg whites! 100 grams of egg whites have only 52 calories and 11 grams of protein. Imagine consuming 500 grams which is a lot! Only 260 calories and 55 grams of protein. You will feel full for sure and protein has a higher thermic effect of food which means you will lose more calories to process it and also it will keep you full for longer!
2) Greens (veggies). Per 100 grams they have about 20-25 calories, they are high in fibre which means you can eat a lot, feel full and also consume very little calories! Amazing right?
3) Most fruits. Some fruits like bananas are high in calories but most are high in fibre, with low calories and are an excellent source of vitamins. A few of them are blueberries, raspberries, peaches, watermelon, strawberries etc.
4) Jello 0%. It’s more of a snack but a life-saving for me personally! only 5 calories per portion (about 100 grams) which means you can consume 5 per day, keep yourself full, fulfil the desire of your sweet tooth and keep your calories low. 25 calories per 5 portions is stunning!
5) Popcorn! Excellent source of fibre and low in calories (depending on how you make it so be careful). Another life saving for me especially those nights when you feel like eating all the furniture at home!
