The most efficient exercise to fight depression

Exercise is widely recognized for its ability to alleviate symptoms of depression, but recent research suggests that dancing might be the most effective way to enhance your mood. In an extensive analysis of 218 studies involving over 14,000 participants, researchers discovered that dancing was as effective—or even more so—than other forms of exercise in treating depression and promoting well-being.

The findings reveal that dancing can sometimes yield better outcomes than selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), a common type of antidepressant medication. Beyond its mood-boosting benefits, dancing also contributes to overall mental and physical health. The research highlighted improvements in self-efficacy, anxiety, motivation, and quality of life among those who engage in regular dance sessions.

In summary, while all forms of exercise are beneficial for mental health, dancing stands out as a particularly potent option for reducing depression and enhancing overall well-being.
